Hi Karl, some students who are applying 485 before the 1st of july this year are going to get 5 year TR. They were not promised to be given this extended TR because it was introduced last year July. Whereas, I came to this country knowing this that the govt promised me 5 year TR after finishing my course. Even it's extendable for another 2 years because of studying in the regional area. Now, those who were not promised will get 5-7 years TR and those like me who were promised will get Zero. Absolutely Zero. Some people can say that it's unlucky for me but I say it's unfair, it's daylight robbery.

Hi long story short.🖐️🖐️🖐️ I apply for my 457, lost for covid closure did 2 and half year of work after that, one full year (stood down no income no allowed to work) found another 482 completed, applied for PR, made medical check and the business bunkrupt so beside all the time and efforts I paid all the costs for me and the BUSINESSES , plus the migration agent of their choice full paid by ME plus lost of super and all the leave accumulated in both the jobs(I never visited my country since I got here. I just want my pr after have complied 2 full sponsorships what can I do? Law should be approved from people who has experienced sponsorships so they can understand! Thank you for your great videos!!

I've been in Australia for 5 years now and working in Byron Bay for an employer similar to my field Industrial Engineering for 8 months and they want to sponsor me for 491 pathway 1 but because my salary is not 70k they can't. I applied for a 2nd Master degree after finishing my MBA in SCU with the highest GPA and 2 academic excellence certificates but Immigration lawyers advised me to withdraw my student visa application and leave the country in a month so I don't leave with a refusal. I feel like there is no hope other than waiting invitations for my EOIs 189,190 and 491 pathway 2 offshore. I also met with this Australian girl a month ago before I learned these news and now she is so sad that we have to breakup. Would you have any advice for any visa options or way to stay? I'm desperate and devastated:(

Mr. Karl, Do you think they should grant direct regional PR visas, without the long wait of 3 years in the regions if the main applicant has a relative like an Australian brother/sister or first cousin living and working outside the bigger cities?

And why they didn't make the time served with one employer count towards the Permanent visa then if done more then 3 years on 482 employee can submit for 191sub by themselves. SO MANY PEOPLE ARE LOOPING ON THIS VISA SCAM

You talk alot about university students, I would love to know how many students are at uni and how many are in other RTO's either private or government tafe, doing skilled trade courses that are now so short with insufficient training so condensed and overwhelmed with such high class numbers to able teach effectively, that every employer knows these trade certificates and diplomas are not worth the paper they are written on? Unless the employer runs the college to train their own students to work in their own company such as hospitality, child care, automotive so as to ensure they are getting the cheapest labour possible with the bare minimum level of required certified education. These dodgy providers run the industries that are dictating the required levels of their needed staff in these and other industires just to keep making massive amounts of profit from both areas, and the migration agents benefit with 20-40% of the students tuition fees paid to the college as paymentts from these colleges to send students to them. We have classes of over 100 students every day trying to train intricate detail required training, been the same for the past 10 year with 5 different colleges, all the same. How can a none english speaking student, many with very poor english communication skills, complete a trade course in 40 weeks with suitable evidence of time served for experience, when it takes 2.5 to 4 years for and Australian resident to do the same trade course working 40 hours per week, and the international student can only work 24 hours a week during their school term, to gain the same required experience?. The government has allowed this to flourish into the none skilled migrantion scheme we now see, with skill levels and productivity less now then when we started 20 years ago and industires on the verge of collapse beqcuse of it, people working who are homeless, cost of living skyrocketings and monoplies price gouging, the same companies using migrants to keep wages stagnent and demand for services and housing high, all so they can continue to make record profits each year for the few who own the majority. I see it in my industry, in 1990 we paid our head Chef in our restaurant 60k per annum, now 35 years later myself as a head Chef would be lucky to get 85k and you want to pay a skilled migrant chef 75k to sponser them, and thats base level no responsibility cheffing.

Karl, I want to ask one thing. I have consulted Microsoft, IBM, SAP, Oracle, Temenos and many other international tech giants. I am one of the 225 accrediated Certified Practising Marketers by Australian Marksting Institute. I have over 5 years of experienc enroute to complete my dual Masters. I received over 100 job offers even without applying in Australia but all of them rejected me after I told them that I am only allowed to work 24 hours a week until I finish my degree in April 2025 and every single one of them rejected me after hearing this :/ I have over 30 internationally recognized marketing certifications and part of group of elite marketers have tons of testimonials. Even after all this why nobody is willing to sponsor me so, I can work 40 hours for them? I think 482 visa is a scam. I think companies are charging money from overseas candidates to sponsor them. I think it should be totally abolished. Govt should vet the candidates and establish a pool and employers should only be sponsor candidates from that pool. I am just baffled! What's gping on? They say they want skilled workforce so why no one is hiring me? I am not even able to get a cleaning job because they ask for 2 years of experience. I was one of the most highly sought after camdidate in my country and I am just 28. I was managing billions of dollars worth in revenue across 5 continents. I thought I will get job easily when I came here but I am not even able to get job as a cleaner. On one side they want skilled migrants and on the other hand why they are doing this? Am I not good enough? I am not able to understand the reason. Something is not making any sense :/

Glad the government has given the red light to Grattan institutes proposals to change the points test.I wonder if part of the decision followed from watching your interview with Trent.Not to mention the five hundred(almost universally negative) comments that followed.

Thank you Karl for your excellent interview with Professor Peter McDonald.His comment that the Grattan institutes proposed revision of the points test only values high earners is true.After all both Nurses and Teachers are vocations that are not highly paid in short supply but clearly essential for our health and well being together with the education of future generations.

Hi, i am on 482 visa and will expire on Sep 2026, and redundant from job two weeks ago, i have already found a new employer who is willing to sponser me, i am currently elligible for 186 DE, but if i apply for 186 DE, it may take more than 6 months to get approved , can i still work after this 6 months for this employer? considering that i have applied for new nomination and new visa?

I have still hope to get a graduate visa as as I will be over 35 at my graduation period. One thing I want to know that when will the petition result will be announced? It is already going to be July ....

Will point system change for 189, 191 and 491?

Hi Carl, Thank you so much for such an informative video. I have a situation, I have 2 months and 2 weeks left for my visa to expire, but I have just found an employer in regional NSW with DAMA LABOUR agreement. They have offered me to sponsor me as barista (semi skilled occupation), I have 5 years of experience as barista. is it possible to lodge my visa 482 within 2 months time before my visa expires( September 04 2024 )? Does this stream lead me to pr ? If it does, how long do I need to work for the employer in this visa ? Sorry for such a long message and thank you in advance .

My question is: How likely would it be that they would take up the suggestion to extend the 485 if someone is working for an employer and wants to keep working longer... I’ve been on graduate visa since June 2023. One year to go. Since 2022 December, they have only sent 1 round of invitation for non healthcare workers a couple of weeks ago. How do they expect us to get PR, if they are not sending invitations? Now, we won’t be able to apply for student visa. I’m sure there are lots of people like me who are on graduate visa and waiting government to send more invitations. It seems impossible to get invitations for 189 as the new allocations are sitting at 16k. The only way is state sponsorship. Hopefully, they don’t change the allocations last minute as they did last year.
